On “The Rock of the Pacific,” Niue’s beaches might surprise you. While they differ from the soft golden sands of other South Pacific islands, Niue’s coral beaches (made up of shells and coral remnants) are charming in their own right. Picturesque and often secluded, these beaches offer a tranquil escape well worth exploring.
Simply look out for the sea track signs marked “Hala Tahi [Beach Name]” and let the adventure begin!
We do recommend if you plan t explore the beaches to take reef shoes with you.

Planning for your return trip home with Duty Free purchases? Here are your limits -
Niue has Telecom Niue. NZ Providers with global roaming do not work on the island. So it is time to turn off and relax. If you can’t then you will need to purchase a sim card from Telecom Niue to be able to use your phone (or use WiFi only and connect via What’s App, Messanger etc).

The current in Niue is the same as in New Zealand - 240 volts AC 50Hz with 3 pin power points. Feel free to take your own electrical appliances as required.

Niue uses NZ currency and has a KiwiBank, though no ATM’s. Most businesses take physical (ie not digital cards on phone) eft-pos and debit cards issued by New Zealand banks, but I recommend bringing a small amount of cash with you - hey you will use it back in NZ.
-
There is a Niue Consumer Tax (NCT) on all goods and services in Niue of 12.5%.

Tipping for good service is not expected in Niue but is most certainly appreciated.
